Why is Christianity Burdened Down with Sin?

Why is Christianity Burdened Down with Sin?

In Luke 24 the two on the road to Emmaus were “sad”, and discouraged, as “we had hoped” they say that this Jesus would be the one to deliver them. They had just lost a loved one, a close friend, they thought was their Messiah.  I was reminded of that beautiful song “No Never Alone”.

How many times discouraged, we sink beside the way,
About us all is darkness, we hardly dare to pray”
Then from the mists and shadows, the sweetest voice err known
Says, Child am I not with thee, never to leave thee alone?

Victory!

God’s Word declares that we HAVE a “victorious Christian life over sin” Romans 7:24-25 –“O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” An old song says this.

O victory in Jesus, my Savior, forever
He sought me and bought me, with His redeeming blood.
He loved me err I knew Him, and all my love is due Him
He plunged me to Victory in His redeeming blood!”

Deliverance

Galatians 1:3-4 tells us “Grace to you and peace from God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us out of this present evil world,…”

Some Christians are looking for something we ALREADY HAVE! One of those things is VICTORY over sin in our life!  Jesus chides the disciples saying “O foolish ones”, “O foolish men”, “How foolish you are”, etc.

Like the women wanting to anoint the already anointed body of Jesus. They were seeking a victory that they already had.  Jesus HAD ALREADY RISEN from the dead! It’s like playing a football game over again that WE ALREADY WON!

Don’t live in the shadows

The Christian life is not one of defeat, or constantly falling into sin! It is a VICTORIOUS life! The Internet is full of professing Christians living in the shadows and mists of sin. And this world is full of professing Christians living willfully in the grasps of sin!

They want to be “SAVED” but not REPENT and TURN FROM their sin. I received a call from a group of believers and they were rejoicing in the birth of another grandchild out of wedlock (or not married) to a Daughter of one of the callers! They were  expecting me to “REJOICE” in their sin!

Turn from sin

There is no VICTORY in our lives unless there is REPENTANCE AND TURNING FROM SIN.  1 Thess 1:9 says “For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God”. Please note that they “TURNED TO GOD” before they could turn from sin.

When an unbeliever turns to God, then and only then can he have victory over any sin. Some people want to turn to God but keep one of their sins, so they have no victory. This includes the sins of homosexuality, transgender-ism, living together unmarried, etc

You cannot hold on to one sin and think God will forgive the rest and let this one sin go!

Don’t believe the lies

Lately I have heard many believers disparage knowing the Word of God and being held accountable to it. To be honest I was getting discouraged by their comments discounting the need to know and obey God’s precious Word on how a believer is to conduct themselves”. Don’t believe the lies on the internet.

Jesus does tell us we can’t hold onto a particular sin and call ourselves Christians. Jesus does tell us to teach “All things whatsoever I have commanded you”.

Submitting to Jesus

We are not putting ourselves back under a new law called NT Church truths! We are submitting to Jesus’s simple requests. Jesus simply went back to the OT Scriptures (That’s  all they had back then) and “He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself”.

This brought immediate victory to lives even though they had just lost someone they dearly loved! Are we using both the OT and NT to expound to others in ALL THE SCRIPTURES the things concerning “HIMSELF?”.
