Why the need for assemblyHUB?

Why the need for assemblyHUB?

assemblyHUB is a work that has come from several individuals, all with a love for the assemblies and a desire to see them grow. Below is a short testimony as to why each of us feel this website is important.

Mike Dilione

I’ve been attending my assembly since I was 12 years old. I can still recall my first Sunday school class learning about the rapture. One characteristic I’ve always loved about the assemblies is the desire to have solid biblical teaching.

I have a strong passion to see this continue. My vision for assemblyHUB is simple, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God,” (Rom. 12:2). It is obvious that if we do not renew our minds there will be little to no progress among our assemblies which ultimately impacts the Body of Christ. That is why I pray that assemblyHUB will be a great resource for all believers. A place where we can think through the different issues we all face while remaining true to the Word of God. My prayer is that through this process we will become more unified as the Body of Christ.

Scott Thomson

Over 40 years ago I was born into a Christian family. From my earliest days I remember regularly attending the meetings of the local assembly. Over the years the assembly shared with me the gospel and taught me the Scriptures. When I was a child the Lord used the assembly’s Vacation Bible School to reach me with the gospel. As I grew the Lord used the assembly to disciple me in the things of God. The assembly also encouraged me to develop and exercise my spiritual gifts.

Since then I have continued to fellowship with assemblies of the Lord’s people. I am grateful for this heritage. I can honestly say with the psalmist ‘The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.’ Ps. 16:6

Presently the assemblies are at a critical juncture. While we continue to benefit from those who have gone before us, we must not rely on the blessings of prior generations to sustain us indefinitely. Individually and collectively, we must cry out to God for His mercy, leading, and empowerment to meet the challenges of our day. We must also have the fortitude and courage to follow where He leads.

My prayer is that the Lord will use the assemblyHUB website to encourage the saints to be busy going about His business; that we would tenaciously hold to that which is scriptural, be willing to free ourselves of the traditions of men, and to redeem the time we are given.

For His glory!

I don’t think I can fully express my love for the assemblies.   I have been in the assemblies my whole life and have a deep appreciation for our heritage based on the New Testament principles and patterns.  And I dearly love the fellowship of the believers and coming together to break bread each week together to remember the Lord Jesus.

While I love our heritage, I am convinced that we should always be evaluating what is truly scriptural and what have become traditions.  My hope and prayer is that assemblyHUB will generate healthy conversation about these issues among assembly believers.  I firmly believe that we must hold fast to doctrine, pursue holy living, and be open to making changes in order to be relevant and thrive today as local churches.

The Lord has so richly blessed us. I pray that we can lay down our pride and evaluate our hearts and our practices to bring Him alone more glory.

I was raised in the assemblies and grew up in a wonderful Christian home. As I grew older and sought to grow in the Lord, the believers in the assemblies were a tremendous encouragement to me. Because of the love and kindness I was shown, and am still shown, by my assembly family, it is my desire to give back and encourage my brothers and sisters in any way the Lord allows. The Lord has used the assemblies in a very special way in my life, and they are near and dear to my heart.

The assemblies, just like any group of believers, faces unique challenges in an ever-changing world. Despite these challenges, the Lord has and will continue to raise up believers to strengthen and encourage his people. It is my desire and prayer that the Lord will use me to be a blessing to my brothers and sisters in the assemblies, and that he will use assemblyHUB as a vessel of his mercy and grace.

“…Use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”-1 Pet. 4:10

Crawford Paul

I have been attending assemblies for my whole life (even before I was born). That’s 40 years associating with and fellowshipping with wonderful believers who love the simplicity of the New Testament pattern.  I can honestly say I’m a “brethren” boy. Having said that, our assemblies are facing tough challenges and many of the issues we are facing are being ignored. Change is necessary as we deal with much complacency, legalism and worldliness in our assemblies. To stay the same is not an option as growth always requires change. I believe it’s time for us to have an honest and open discussion about these issues and recognize that the work the Lord did in our assemblies years ago has been replaced by formality, function and indifference. Where we once thrived we are now barely surviving.

I am excited about the future of our assemblies. I see many young men and women in my generation, and the next, excited about the Lord and his church. They are looking for more than just “doing Church” and are ready to re-discover the precious truths of what it means to be the body of Christ. My prayer is that this website will help to be a catalyst for discussion and change within the assemblies. That together we can ignite a flame of selfless and sacrificial love for the Lord Jesus first, then for his people.  It is my prayer that assemblyHUB will bring us together and get rid of the pride that has divided us for the past several decades. May this website be to his glory and honor.

“And he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised,” (2 Corinthians 5:15 ESV).   It was this verse that the Lord used to cause Mike to repent and fully surrender his life to Christ.  Mike and his family reside and serve the Lord in Jamaica.  They have been commended to the Lord’s work there by 5th Ave Chapel in Belmar.

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
What a tremendous blessing it is to read your various testimonies and witness first-hand the stirring of the Spirit of God in the hearts and lives of His dear children. It is an encouraging time when the Lord’s people step forward and ready themselves to take the baton from us older folks and commit themselves to running their race in their generation. May He be pleased to use these humble beginnings to many hearts to seek a renewed vision and commitment for the things of God.
Let us pray that the Lord of the harvest will pour out His Spirit afresh on all both young and old alike and may we be found faithful at His soon coming.
